Most practitioners know what they do, some know how they do it, but few know why they do it. Yes many practitioners are passionate about their work but I'm talking about what drives a person to do this work, what are their beliefs, what gets them up everyday to do this.
As I was growing up in the sixties and seventies I never knew of anyone with cancer. It wasn't until 1992 that I personally met someone with cancer. It seemed so profound to me. Then I started to see that more and more people were dying of long, debilitating diseases, cardiovascular, cancer, diabetes, dementia, why were people not dying of just natural causes like old age. Even people becoming more and more afflicted with arthritis, gastritis, ulcerative colitis at young ages. The answers given by most conventional doctors was idiopathic or simply unknown. That really made no sense to me nothing happens for no reason. So I began to ask why, I have always been a "why" person. It was for that reason that I began to delve into biochemistry and neuroscience to start to answer that question.
Since practicing Functional Medicine for the past ten years I have learned from many experts like Robert Sapolsky, a well respected neurobiologist form Stanford, Dr. Daniel Kalish, who is one of the foremost, functional medicine practitioners to people like Jeff Volek, Phd an expert in Metabolism and Fat Adaptation and Dr. Marty Hinz, MD who has researched and applied Amino Acid Therapy for the past twenty years for neuro issues from depression, anxiety, alcoholism, Alzheimer's to very debilitating nervous disorders like Parkinson's. All of these people have influenced my training and practice to become an expert in the effects of the stress response system and neurotransmitter therapy and how it impacts the mind and body.
The work we are doing today is better than the work we did six months ago, and the work we will be doing six months from now will be better than the work we are doing today. When clients tell me "I have never felt better" or "I feel like I used to feel", or "I feel unbelievable" that's WHY I do the work I do.
Dr. Juliano has trained with Dr. Howard Loomis, DC an expert in the field of enzymes and urine testing, and personally trained and mentored by Dr. Dan Kalish in the Kalish Method of functional medicine. It was the advanced training with Dan using his methodology that really began the spring board to shifting to the master system that controls the entire body systems....the brain. From there I was personally mentored by Dr. Marty Hinz, MD who along with his associates researched, applied and wrote many papers on Amino Acid Therapy and Relative Nutritional Deficiencies and there effects on correcting body system dysfunction. For my personal practice that became a game changer, if you can wrap your mind around the fact that the brain itself controls the entire body and it's very function and existence and that the stress response system in the long term becomes more damaging than the stressors the body is undergoing you have mastered the key to debilitating diseases.
Dr. Juliano is a graduate from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana with a BS in Finance and Aviation. Dr. Juliano, DN, ND, CNC is a licensed physician and board certified. Her formal training is in Naprapathic and Naturopathic medicine and specializes in restoring brain chemistry and maximizing human performance.
